Necromancer/Mesmer Drain Build
Hello there.
For starters, this isn't my first build, but it's my first build on these particular forums.
Mainly the idea of this build is to drain the life out of your opponent, where he or she will just sit there watching themselves die, being able to do nothing about it. Now, I actually made this layout for Alliance Battles, and whether it works in other PvP aspects I do not know.
To start off with things, the attributes I use are as follows;
Blood Magic: 16
Soul Reaping: 9
Curses: 10
Change yours around to whatever suits you best, but those are the attributes I use.
The skills I use are as follows, and the descriptions correspond to the attributes I use myself.
- Arcane Echo -
If you cast a Spell in the next 20 seconds, Arcane Echo is replaced with that spell for 20 seconds. Arcane Echo ends prematurely if you use a non-spell skill.
- Life Transfer [Elite] -
For 12 seconds, target foe suffers Health degeneration of 8, which you gain as Health regeneration.
- Life Siphon -
For 22 seconds, target suffers health degeneration of 3, and you gain health regeneration of 3.
- Suffering -
For 22 seconds, target foe and all nearby foes suffer health degeneration of 2.
- Desecrate Enchantments -
Target foe and all nearby foes takes 42 shadow damage and 15 shadow damage for each enchantment on them.
- Well Of Blood -
Exploit nearest corpse to create a well of blood at its location. For 18 seconds, allies in that area receive health regeneration of 5.
- Defile Flesh -
Hex Spell. Sacrifice 20% max health. For 18 seconds, target foe receives only two-thirds Health from healing.
- Ressurection Signet -
Resurrect target party member. That party member is returned to life with 25% energy. This Signet only recharges when you gain a morale boost.
Right, there's the skills and attributes. Seeing as this was designed for Alliance Battles, I shall assume that the build relates to it in all aspects.
The Arcane Echo I use first upon contact with the opposition. Following that, I select two targets, preferably standing close to eachother. I then cast Life Transfer on target 1, switch to target 2 and cast the replaced Arcane Echo on him. Switching back to target 1 I cast Life Siphon, and assuming that the targets are still standing next to eachother, I then cast Suffering. By now, at least one of your targets should be down to about a quarter health. If not, he is being healed, where there is bound to be an enchantment at place. Casting Desecrate Enchantment will not only take a base amount health off the foe and the area around him, but it will take even more off for how many enchantments the people around him have on them. Defile Flesh will also help to prevent him from recovering via healing. Well Of Blood is cast upon first death for the plus on Health regeneration, and Ressurection Signet is just obvious. The whole build is actually, very obvious. This build works especially well on 1 on 1s, seeing as most people don't bother taking self-healing skills. Even if they did, they won't be able to catch up on the mass degeneration.
The build has Health management via Life Siphon + Transfer, energy management through the Soul Reaping (though rarely did I ever get to a point where I ran out of energy), and the damage comes along with your Healing.
Do what you want with it. Change it, replace something, whatever; go ahead.
Take 1-3 people at a time, use WoB and enjoy.

you take 1-3 people at a time.. you mean you kill them?
with echoed life transfer?
degen maxes out at 10 and i just don't ever see anyone die from it. maybe in random.

This seems a little shaky to me. Just casting one round of echoed Transfers will cost you 35 energy, not to mention Siphons costing 10e each plus all the other skills you're using. You have no energy management besides Soul Reaping, which is not reliable in PvP.

Yes, energy management is a problem in your build.
Degen of 10 pips for 17 seconds is not that much (considering removing hexes are cheap, a good monk can heal that damage quickly, so can a healing signet or Troll Unguent can soften the blow. Melandru's Resilience can also aid them (Signet, Troll and MR are not enchantments, so Desecrate won't do additional damage).
Necros will laugh because even their spells can cripple you (SS, Soul Leech, Vampiric Gaze, Parasitic Bond, etc.), as those spells, Troll, Healing Signet and a few others are not healing, so Defile Flesh won't matter to them.
By the time you put on Life Transfer (which is slow to cast, can easily be interupted), it can easily be removed (Holy Veil, Remove Hex, Shatter Hex, Smite Hex, etc.)
You have a nice idea, but I think energy management is your biggest problem.

As I said, I made this for Alliance Battles only.
Energy was no problem to me at all. I managed to cast and recast Degen's repetatively to keep it up to the -10 cap. Most people in AB's don't think twice about Hex Removal, and very rarely had I encountered anyone that has. Either I was just lucky or Hex-Removing Kurzicks come on only at one period of time.
And Holden, yes, 1-3 people.

the numbers don't add up. just because they die and happen to have your life transfer on them doesn't mean you killed them. i can't imagine you're going to take on 3 foes without someone on your team coming over to help.
'thats allright warrior, i got these 3....i brought life transfer'
in truth it's a bad skill.
no offense
